Kite Magnetics

On-site | Full-time, ongoing.

Notting Hill, Victoria, Australia.

About Us

Kite Magnetics is an advanced materials company based in Notting Hill, Victoria. Founded in 2022, we are commercialising Aeroperm®, a nanocrystalline magnetic material developed at Monash University that enables electric motors and generators to be significantly more efficient, compact and lightweight. Our mission is to reduce global emissions and energy waste by improving the performance of electric machines in transport, renewable energy and industrial applications. In 2025, we are building out a new pilot scale production facility in Melbourne to scale up our manufacturing capability and support our growing customer base. As part of our engineering team, you will work alongside experienced mechatronics, materials and automation engineers on real world projects that push the boundaries of sustainable manufacturing and advanced electric motor technology. We are a collaborative and hands‑on team that values curiosity, transparency and impact, and we are proud to be building high‑tech jobs and capability here in Australia.

Position Overview

As a Graduate Materials and Mechanical Process Engineer, you will play an important role in developing and manufacturing next‑generation magnetic materials used in high‑efficiency electric motors and generators.

Working across both laboratory and pilot‑scale manufacturing environments, you will contribute to materials testing, process development, mechanical prototyping and experimental analysis. The role provides early‑career engineers with the opportunity to apply their technical knowledge in a practical setting while developing hands‑on experience in advanced manufacturing.

You will be part of a small multidisciplinary team working on projects with tangible environmental and industrial impact.

Reporting to: Principal Materials Engineer

4. Support process development activities, including materials synthesis, heat treatment, coating processes and pilot‑scale manufacturing operations.
5. Assist in mechanical prototyping, assembly and testing of experimental systems and manufacturing equipment.
6. Collaborate with materials, mechanical, mechatronics and automation engineers to optimise processing workflows and troubleshoot technical challenges.
7. Contribute to data analysis, modelling or simulation activities related to materials performance, electric machines or system behaviour.
