This Senior Process Engineer role is ideal for an experienced operational improvement professional who wants to shape how a regional utility operates, delivers for customers and prepares for the future.
The Senior Operational Process Engineer will design and deliver operational improvement projects and lead continuous improvement activity across the Bournemouth Water region.
Taking a holistic view of the operation, you will work closely with line managers and senior leaders to develop tactical improvements to processes and local assets that strengthen operational resilience, sustainability and cost efficiency.
A key element of the role is the design and delivery of staff training and coaching sessions, aligned to and approved by the Bournemouth Water Operational Leadership Team (BW OLT).
This is a highly visible role, shaping how the operation performs today and how it evolves for the future.
What you'll be doing
* Lead and deliver the regional operational process improvement programme aligned to customer, regulatory and business priorities.
* Design and deploy end-to-end process improvements that increase operational resilience, sustainability and cost efficiency.
* Set, track and report performance targets with the BW Operational Leadership Team, ensuring delivery of agreed outcomes.
* Lead the identification, prioritisation and delivery of improvement projects using data, insight and customer feedback.
* Act as the senior escalation point for operational improvement issues, driving timely and effective resolution.
* Establish standard operating procedures and best practice to improve consistency and service quality across the region.
* Design and deliver operational training and coaching programmes approved by the BW OLT.
* Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships and represent the region in national operational forums.
What we're looking for
* Proven experience motivating, developing and performance-managing people across both direct and indirect structures.
* Strong experience managing escalations and resolving complex issues with empathy and professionalism.
* Experience working with delivery partners and contractors to maintain consistent service standards.
* Understanding of working within regulatory frameworks.
* A track record of delivering operational excellence, process optimisation and digital tool adoption.
* Strong experience collaborating with external stakeholders and partner organisations.
Required
* Degree-level qualification, with a technology or business improvement bias
* Knowledge of water services operations or another regulated utility sector.
* Detailed knowledge of PLCs, SCADA and the ability to read and draw PIDS
Desirable
* Leadership, project management or continuous improvement qualifications (for example PRINCE2, Lean Six Sigma or utilities management).
* Extensive experience (8–10+ years)Process engineering experience
