Systems Service Engineer
Location: Thornbury, Bristol, BS35
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Reports to: General Manager
Company Overview
Our client are UK specialists in the design, manufacture and support of High Vacuum Systems and Freeze Dryers.
Based near Bristol, they serve across several sectors including nuclear and decommissioning, pharma and defence. They’re a hardworking and friendly team and their people are their most valued asset.
Duties will include
1. Deliver services for specialist process equipment, including vacuum degassing and drying systems, gas sampling and particulate collection units, and nuclear monitoring systems
2. Perform planned maintenance and breakdown support
3. Troubleshoot faults across EC&I, mechanical and vacuum systems
4. Ensure safety compliance with site protocols and regulations
5. Communicate technical findings, provide recommendations and produce clear service reports
6. Support internal engineering, system builds, testing, commissioning and technical schematic reviews
7. Provide field feedback for design enhancements
8. Travel across the UK for servicing, undertaking overnight stays when required to support their nationwide customer base
Skills & Experience
9. Good technical foundation with ability to apply and develop hands-on skills across engineering environments
10. Practical understanding of electrical, control and instrumentation systems
11. Experience with vacuum or gas applications (e.g., compressors, instrumentation, pressure monitoring)
12. Strong fault-finding aptitude
13. Knowledge of high-vacuum systems
14. Eligibility to develop into an SQEP (Suitably Qualified & Experienced Person) for nuclear work (training provided)
15. Excellent communication skills
16. Full, clean UK driving licence
17. Willingness to travel and work away from home
18. Exposure or experience in regulated industries is desirable (nuclear, aerospace, pharma, defence, etc.)
19. Existing SC/CTC security clearance desirable or the ability to obtain
