Decom Engineering is a fast-growing provider of innovative R&D and engineering solutions to the
energy industry, specialising in our subsea Chopsaw range and custom-built equipment. With a
current focus on the IMR & decommissioning sector, we support major offshore projects across
Australia, the USA, Brazil, the North Sea, and the Far East.
Following a number of recent contract wins, we are seeking a designer / design draughtsperson
with strong mechanical and subsea tooling design skills to join our dynamic team in Aberdeen.

The main responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
As a key member of our engineering team, your responsibilities will include:
• Produce 2D drawings and 3D models for subsea tooling, structures, and associated
equipment.
• Carry out all technical and administrative task as directed by the engineering manager.
• Develop detailed manufacturing drawings, including assembly and component drawings
to a high standard.
• Work closely with engineers to translate concepts and calculations into practical
designs.
• Update and revise drawings in line with project changes and feedback.
• Support design reviews, risk assessments, and technical documentation.
• Liaise with fabricators and suppliers to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
• Maintain accurate records within document control systems.
• Provide technical support during tender process.
• Create new designs and perform design verification (FEA) to support projects and new
tooling.
• Prepare all tooling bills of materials (BoM’s) and update as required.
• Effectively manage the drawing office folder structure, PDM and templates.
• Participate in design verification and validation activities, including FAT (Factory
Acceptance Testing) and SIT (System Integration Testing).
• Review and check drawings produced by other team members for accuracy and
compliance.
• Create rendering or visualisations for client presentations when required.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
• Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Strong Mechanical and hydraulics ability.
• The ability to problem solve and come up with good working solutions.
• Flexibility for travel around the world sometimes at short notice.
• Effective, confident communicator both verbally and written.
• Able to work independently and within integrated local and virtual teams
• Good computer literacy with particular competence in MS office software.
• Full command of English language written and spoken.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Solidworks preferred).
Desirable:
• HNC/HND in mechanical engineering, design engineering or related discipline.
• Oil and gas industry experience (preferably subsea).
• Experience working with ISO 9001 Standards and DNV standards.
• Subsea tooling experience.
• Previous experience of working as part of a multi-discipline team on decommissioning
or energy related projects.
• Knowledge of decommissioning legislation, engineering techniques, solutions and
challenges.
