Job Overview TE's Aerospace Defense & Marine Division is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Fiber Optics to deliver the engineering design, development, and implementation of next generation manufacturing technologies and processes. Manufacturing Development works closely with Product Development and Operations ONSITE to: Launch new product at world class quality and cost at pace of customer demand. Infuse strong DFM/DFA principles to ensure delivery of robust, efficient and cost-effective designs that are manufacturable at full scale. Deliver product designs that align with current manufacturing capabilities. Develop new manufacturing processes to support customer driven product innovation as needed. The Candidate Must Have Prior Experience With Optical manufacturing principles such as single and multi-fiber termination Test methods of optical connectors Active optical assembly. Additionally, this candidate should have basic knowledge of industry standards surrounding environmental and mechanical performance of optical connectors Your Main Tasks New process and equipment compliance with TE safety and ergonomic policies DFM/A input into the early stages of product design PFMEA and implementation of high-risk mitigation plans Manufacturing capacity analysis Value stream mapping Assembly tooling and equipment development Process qualification via capability studies Support in the execution of sample builds and first article inspection Generation of process specifications Develop and implement new manufacturing technologies and automation appropriately to support customer driven new product innovation. Apply a lean manufacturing focus to drive world class cost on new product and fuel plant-level productivity initiatives on fiber optic manufacturing processes. Support TE’s global operations footprint as a subject matter expert for fiber optic manufacturing processes. Liaise with manufacturing facilities to support preliminary cost estimates on new product concepts. Your Ideal Background A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Optical, or Manufacturing Engineering with 5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, at least 2 of which is related to fiber optic product. Experience with machine, equipment and process design, development, and deployment into a production environment. Hands-on problem solver with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Knowledge and experience implementing Lean Six Sigma principles preferred. Green or Black Belt certification a plus. Must be able to effectively operate in remote teams with broad geographic footprints. Excellent time management skills and the ability to balance priorities while working under the pressure of demanding project schedules. Strong written and oral communication skills across all levels of the organization. Proficient with 3D CAD software as well as general Microsoft Office applications. UK MIL access require jobsEMEAUk
