Job Description:
A well-established banking institution is seeking a Financial Controller to join their Wealth and Asset Management arm. Duties include maintaining internal controls over financial, tax, and regulatory reporting, as well as producing commentary to support management and forecasting.
Main Responsibilities
* Managing day-to-day finance operations with a team of two direct reports
* Performing all related accounting functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and company policies and procedures
* Analytical review and analysis of financial data, generating monthly trend reports, and conducting balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial statement accuracy and investigating variances
* Monitoring and managing financial risks in line with compliance and regulations
* Completing all HMRC filings and returns, including corporation taxes and VAT, in accordance with tax policy. Liaising with the group tax team and HMRC on enquiries
* Preparing formal year-end statutory accounts and coordinating annual external audit activities, liaising with external auditors
* Overseeing bank reconciliations and maintaining cash flow forecasts to ensure funds are available to meet obligations
* Driving the team’s automation strategy, with scope to redesign manual processes, especially around financial operations
* Deputising for the Head of Finance as appropriate
* Handling regulatory reporting, liquidity, and capital requirements calculations, analysis, and management under the ICARA regime
Experience/Qualifications
Qualified accountant with strong experience as a Financial Controller
Experience in team management
Analytical mindset, excited by new challenges and creating new processes
Ability to work with high accuracy and meet strict deadlines
Academic: ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with at least 5 years of post-qualified experience
