Job Purpose:
As Marine Insurance Manager, you will lead the Freight Services Liability and Cargo All Risks (marine) insurance classes, shaping and executing DHL Group’s global marine insurance strategy. Collaborating with regional managers and cross-functional teams, you’ll assess marine risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide risk financing solutions aligned with strategic goals. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor on marine insurance matters, enhancing program design, claims analytics, and financial performance.
Your tasks include:
1. Managing DHL’s global marine insurance programs, ensuring strategic alignment and regulatory compliance.
2. Developing expertise in DHL’s services, contracts, and marine risks to design effective insurance solutions.
3. Overseeing policy renewals, negotiations, claims, and financial reporting.
4. Collaborating with regional managers to optimize coverage and leverage global purchasing power.
5. Providing guidance on marine insurance and risk pricing to various teams.
6. Analyzing loss data and claims trends to identify emerging risks.
7. Supporting governance, contract review, and compliance processes.
8. Contributing to strategic initiatives and digital transformation projects.
9. Representing IRM in stakeholder interactions, including insurers and brokers.
Your profile:
1. University degree in business, law, or related field. Professional insurance qualifications preferred.
2. 10–15 years experience in marine insurance, ideally with a global insurer, broker, or corporate.
3. Proven experience managing cross-border marine insurance programs.
4. Strong knowledge of marine insurance law and international trade regulations.
5. Experience with contract risk management and pricing.
6. Understanding of logistics, transport, warehousing, and global supply chains.
7. Excellent communication skills; able to explain technical content clearly.
8. Strong analytical, reporting, and project management skills.
9. Proficiency in Microsoft 365; Power BI is a plus.
10. Interest or experience in digital tools, data automation, and process improvement.
11. Fluent in English; additional languages are advantageous.
12. Strategic, organized, collaborative, globally minded, with a strong sense of ownership.
