I am a 31-year-old woman living with my husband and our 2-and-a-half-year-old son. I’m currently looking for someone to assist me with personal care and to support me in my role as a mother. My husband is undergoing cancer treatment, so there will be times when he is unwell or attending appointments, and during these periods I’ll need some extra support to keep things running smoothly at home.
In the mornings, I require assistance with personal care and getting ready for the day, including helping my son with his morning routine. I also need support in the evenings around dinnertime and with our bedtime routine. At times, I use a hoist to transfer to my wheelchair — full training will be provided for this, so no prior experience is necessary.
As well as personal care, the role involves helping with light household tasks and preparing some meals. A full UK driving licence is essential, as you may occasionally need to drive my vehicle to help with errands or appointments.
Ideally, the successful applicant will be someone who is reliable, understanding, and willing to cover additional hours when other personal assistants are on leave.
This is a rewarding and meaningful role, supporting not just me but my whole family. All necessary training will be provided, and you'll be joining a supportive and respectful home environment.
Duties include:
- Personal care
- Dressing
- Bathroom assistance
- Assistance with care of a child
- Assist with physiotherapy exercises
- Moving & Handling
- Other relevant duties as required
- Housekeeping
- Cooking
- Transportation
- Companionship
Candidate qualities:
- Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
- Respectful of the employers privacy and confidentiality
- Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
- Hygienic, tidy, and well organised
- Non smoker due to working around a baby
- Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Honest and cheerful
- Creative
- Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
- Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
Additional requirements
Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
Notes:
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
