The Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Assistant Geotechnical Engineer to join our Consulting Highways team, based in Belfast.
Our 130-strong Belfast Design Hub delivers local, national, and international projects for clients including the Department for Infrastructure Roads, Translink, National Highways, Transport Scotland, and Network Rail. Our multidisciplinary team covers Highway Engineering, Bridge/Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, River & Coastal Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Traffic Engineering/Transport Planning, and is the BIM Centre of Excellence for Amey. This ecosystem offers clients a one-stop shop and staff opportunities for growth and development in a knowledge-rich environment.

The role
The Assistant Geotechnical Engineer will play a key role in delivering geotechnical engineering projects across NI, RoI, and the UK.
Responsibilities include:
* Managing geotechnical investigation and design deliverables, supporting Senior Engineers on various design duties including:
* Feasibility and technical reports, including those in accordance with CD 622
* Planning, programming, and cost estimation
* Design production
* Producing specifications
* Surveys, inspections, and construction supervision
* Supporting the development of Graduate Engineers, Degree Apprentices, and Technicians
* Working to deliver projects on time and within budget
* Preparing technical reports such as Feasibility/Options Reports and Assessment Reports
* Maintaining personal development to support team growth and professional progression
What you will bring to us:
* A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a ground engineering-related subject
* Progress towards Chartered or Incorporated status as per the Engineering Council
* An understanding of technical governance procedures in consulting engineering
* Experience and expertise in relevant technical fields, gained in a Graduate Engineer role or similar
* Ability to produce technically sound engineering solutions complying with standards and client requirements
* Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., Wallap, SlopeW)
* Experience with health, safety, and welfare related project tasks, including CDM regulations
* Understanding of technical governance procedures in consulting engineering environments
