Location: Chigwell, Essex Accommodation: Private house provided for sole use Schedule: Monday to Friday, 3:00pm to 9:00pm | Saturday, 10:00am to 5:00pm Salary: £80,000 to £100,000 gross per annum, plus accommodation and car Start: July 2026 Holiday: 28 days including bank holidays Commitment: long-term Role Overview A highly organised and experienced Educational Mentor & Senior Governess is sought to support a bright and lovely 16-year-old boy as he embarks upon his A-level studies. The role would suit a senior candidate with a strong academic background, excellent knowledge of the UK education system, and the ability to help the student maximise his potential. The family would ideally like someone highly educated, preferably with a Russell Group university background, who can provide structure, guidance, and consistent support during this important academic stage. Working within a fully staffed household, the successful candidate will take responsibility for overseeing the student's educational progress, academic commitments, and daily routine whilst also ensuring he maintains a healthy and balanced lifestyle. The household does not employ a chef during these hours; therefore, the family would like a candidate who is happy to prepare balanced, nutritious meals. Key Responsibilities • Liaising with tutors, teachers, and school • Sourcing suitable tutors where required • Supporting university applications and personal statements • Ensuring attendance and punctuality for educational commitments • Ensuring the boy has the appropriate resources for each session • Supporting him in remaining on top of homework and coursework • Driving him to and from school, activities, and appointments • Arranging extracurricular activities • Encouraging regular exercise and a healthy routine • Preparing balanced meals Candidate Requirements • Female candidates only • Secondary PGCE essential • Russell Group university degree preferred • Minimum five years' experience within an UHNW private household • Strong understanding of the UK education system, particularly A Levels • Highly organised and proactive • Experienced supporting teenagers through important academic stages • Happy to relocate to Chigwell, Essex • Confident driver • Comfortable with two outdoor family dogs Package • £80,000 to £100,000 gross per annum doe • Private house provided for sole use • Car provided • 28 days' holiday including bank holidays • Minimal travel may be required To apply, please send your CV to enquiries@quintessentialgoverness.com quoting "Senior Governess Chigwell" in the subject line.
