Hire Manager
Location: Kettering area, Northamptonshire
Reporting to: National Hire & Sales Manager
Salary: £36k
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (flexible between 07:00 – 18:00). Additional hours may be required to fulfil the needs of the role.
About the Role
Interaction Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and driven Hire Manager to join their growing short-term hire function.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a busy hire operation, leading a team and ensuring excellent service delivery across the UK. You will play a key role in managing day-to-day hire activities, supporting customers, and driving operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
As Hire Manager, you will:
1. Work collaboratively with the Hire Desk team to support hire operations nationwide
2. Manage the day-to-day activity of a hire department, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction
3. Oversee all aspects of short-term hire including scheduling, customer communication, transport bookings, quotations, and invoicing
4. Lead and support the team to ensure all hire administration is accurate and completed on time
5. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, identifying cross-hire opportunities
6. Develop strong customer relationships and resolve issues quickly and effectively
7. Take ownership of day-to-day operational challenges
8. Work closely with Service and Sales teams to ensure a seamless customer experience
9. Ensure compliance with internal CRM systems and support ongoing process improvements
10. Develop, mentor, and support team members to achieve business objectives and KPIs
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
11. Extensive knowledge and experience within forklifts, materials handling equipment, or plant hire
12. A proactive and customer-focused approach
13. Strong organisational and administrative skills
14. Excellent communication skills, both telephone and face-to-face
15. Experience using Microsoft 365 and ERP/CRM systems (e.g. Protean)
16. Proven experience managing a team
17. Previous experience within the materials handling service or hire industry (essential)
