Ashton Recruitment is working in partnership with a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor to recruit an experienced Site Agent for a major new project based in Corran, near Fort William. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing contractor expanding its presence across Scotland, offering long-term career development and the chance to work on high-value, complex civil engineering schemes. Site Agent - Civil Engineering (Marine & Infrastructure Projects) Location: Corran, Scotland (initial project), with wider Scotland coverage Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £40,000 - £65,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience) Sector: Civil Engineering, Infrastructure, Marine Works Our client is a well-established contractor with a strong UK presence and an excellent reputation for delivering technically challenging civil engineering projects safely, on time and to the highest quality standards. They have successfully delivered several major schemes across Scotland, including: £10m cable landing facility in Cockenzie £10m airport resurfacing and ground lighting works £24m wastewater treatment facility and marine outfall With recent project awards in the region, they are now establishing a dedicated Scotland-based delivery team. As Site Agent, you will play a key leadership role on site, supporting the successful delivery of civil engineering and marine infrastructure works. You will work closely with the Project Manager and Contracts Manager to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to specification, while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards. The role will commence on an exciting new project at Corran Ferry Port. Key Responsibilities Site & Operational Delivery Monitor and review project progress, ensuring programme, productivity and profitability targets are achieved Identify and manage project risks and opportunities Support effective resourcing and ensure materials and plant are available to prevent delays Produce and manage construction programmes and assess cost/value performance Deputise for the Project Manager when required, providing clear and effective site leadership Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company procedures Promote a strong safety culture across site operations Manage project quality on a daily basis, ensuring works meet specifications and best practice standards Maintain clear records including RAMS, permits, toolbox talks, key milestones and site documentation Stakeholder & Client Relationships Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, statutory authorities and internal departments Represent the company at meetings and provide progress updates when required Support day-to-day site communication and assist with queries, ensuring accurate and professional responses Leadership & Team Culture Provide leadership and direction to internal teams, subcontractors, consultants and supply chain partners Lead by example, ensuring processes and technology are used effectively Address underperformance, issues and risks promptly and professionally Promote equality, inclusion and a positive working environment Essential Requirements Minimum 5 years' post-graduate experience within the civil engineering sector Third level qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and contract documents Experience producing and managing construction programmes Working knowledge of NEC contracts Full UK driving licence Strong IT skills including MS Office and management systems CSR/CSCS qualification (or equivalent) Desirable Working towards membership of a professional body (ICE, CIOB or similar) NEBOSH qualification Experience working on marine or coastal engineering projects Working knowledge of CAD and BIM Salary & Benefits In return, our client offers a highly competitive package designed to support both professional growth and work/life balance, including: Competitive salary with biannual performance-related bonus Generous annual leave with option to purchase additional days Car allowance Private medical insurance Employer pension contribution via salary sacrifice Life assurance (4x annual salary) Health cash plan covering dental, optical and wellbeing services Paid professional membership fees Cycle to Work scheme and gym membership subsidy Enhanced maternity, paternity and sickness pay Annual paid volunteering day Accommodation & Subsistence Support This role is initially based in Corran, near Fort William, which is a remote location.
