The Company
A leading Tier 1 Main Contractor is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its Welwyn Garden City office. You will work across a portfolio of major building projects within the London & Home Counties division, gaining exposure to a variety of construction methods and contract types, including JCT. The role is office based with regular site visits and the flexibility of hybrid working.
Responsibilities
Assist the Commercial Lead with day‑to‑day quantity surveying and commercial management duties.
Prepare and maintain accurate site records, cost reports, valuations, and subcontractor payments.
Support procurement, cost control, forecasting, and contract administration.
Ensure compliance with JCT contract requirements and internal commercial procedures.
Work collaboratively with project, design, and site teams to support successful project delivery and financial performance.
Contribute to value engineering, risk management, and commercial reporting.
The Right Person
HNC or BSc in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
Experience with a main contractor or subcontractor.
Strong understanding of cost reporting, measurement, commercial processes, and JCT contracts.
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, team‑focused approach.
Ambition to progress to Quantity Surveyor level with full training and support.
