We are delighted to be working exclusively with a long-established and fast-evolving chemical manufacturing business in South Yorkshire, seeking to appoint a Process Engineer to play a pivotal role in driving site performance, safety, and technical excellence.
This is a confidential search on behalf of a privately owned organisation operating in a safety-critical, technically demanding sector. With recent investment and a strong order book, the business is focused on continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and developing future talent within its technical team.
The Opportunity
This is more than a maintenance of status quo role — it’s about stepping into a site that wants to do things better, faster, and safer. You’ll be given the freedom to identify improvement opportunities, implement changes, and see real impact from your work.
Working closely with the site leadership team, you will lead process improvement initiatives, support capital projects, and be the go-to technical authority on everything from scale-up to troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Identify and deliver measurable improvements in throughput, yield, waste reduction, and energy efficiency
* Optimise and troubleshoot batch and continuous manufacturing processes
* Lead or support CAPEX and commissioning projects across the plant
* Act as a key contributor to site safety and compliance standards (e.g. DSEAR, COMAH, COSHH)
* Translate data and analytics into actionable process enhancements
* Work collaboratively across operations, maintenance, quality, and SHE functions
* Support the introduction of new technologies, materials, and formulations
* Drive best practice in documentation, SOPs, and training
What We’re Looking For:
Our client is seeking a proactive, curious, and hands-on engineer — someone who thrives in a plant-based role and is passionate about solving problems and making things better.
* Degree-qualified in Chemical or Process Engineering (or related discipline)
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a chemical, pharmaceutical, or process manufacturing environment
* Strong working knowledge of process control, instrumentation, and safe systems of work
* Experience within a regulated environment (COMAH, ATEX, etc.) highly desirable
* Demonstrable success in leading process improvement or cost reduction projects
* Comfortable analysing data and presenting technical information to non-technical stakeholders
* A team player who combines technical know-how with a practical, sleeves-rolled-up attitude
What’s on Offer:
* Benefits including pension, holiday, and potential annual bonus
* A visible, high-impact role with real career progression
* A collaborative and supportive culture where your ideas will be heard
* The opportunity to shape how the site operates today — and how it grows tomorrow
