Job Description
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Senior Civil Engineer to join our Amey Consulting in Scotland. We have design hubs in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Motherwell, Perth, and Aberdeen, with additional office space in Dumfries, Ayr, Dundee, Nairn, and Huntly.
Our Amey Consulting Scotland Team is involved in designing some of the largest civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Scotland, with cumulative values exceeding £1bn.
The role:
Our Senior Engineers play a vital role within the Design team and collaborate with our client, Transport Scotland. You will support your Design Team Leader on various road schemes, lead projects, and mentor junior designers.
Responsibilities include:
1. Leading a team to produce technically sound engineering solutions that meet all relevant standards and client requirements.
2. Preparing and reviewing designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to schedules.
3. Overseeing junior staff and taking responsibility for their work.
4. Managing project budgets and controlling costs to ensure commercial success.
5. Liaising with clients and suppliers, attending meetings, and responding to queries.
6. Contributing to bid preparations and work-winning activities.
7. Promoting health and safety best practices within the team.
What you will bring to us:
1. Experience and expertise in relevant technical fields, gained in an engineering role or similar.
2. Ability to produce compliant, technically sound engineering solutions independently and supervise junior staff.
3. Experience in managing health, safety, and welfare aspects, including relevant regulations and systems.
4. Capability to act as the main engineering contact for projects, e.g., CRE for Network Rail schemes.
5. Proficiency in relevant software and analytical tools.
6. Good commercial awareness.
7. Understanding of CDM and risk management, capable of acting as Principal Designer where appropriate.
8. Professional qualification such as Incorporated or Chartered status, or equivalent.
