The opportunity:
The role of Regional Service Manager involves leadership of a multi-disciplined team of engineers comprising 11 Team Managers and around 180 Engineer Surveyors in the Central region, including area planning, performance management, data analysis and strategic planning.
Based from home, you will work closeley with our other regions, Business Development and Underwriting teams, Technical Services, Support Services and crucially with our customers to ensure that we are meeting the exacting standards both we and our clients demand. You will ensure that all Engineer Surveyors are fully trained for the engineering inspections they are to undertake, and that these inspections are undertaken following all Health and Safety requirements and Zurich policies and procedures. You will need to be an excellent communicator, able to engage at all levels of the business. You will be keen to maintain and promote the wellbeing of the Team Managers and Engineer Surveyors within the region.
What will you be doing?
1. Member of the Engineering Leadership team, with shared responsibility for continuously improving the effectiveness of the Engineer Surveyor workforce
2. Lead, motivate and drive teams to achieve goals
3. Manage staff performance, training and development
4. Identify, manage and control resource within the region
5. Focus on continuously developing business relationships
6. Manage cost centre to operate within budget
7. Achieve planned productivity levels
8. Achieve planned service levels
What are we looking for?
9. Relevant industry qualification (typically HNC or Degree)
10. Established experience in Engineering Management position.
11. Be a role model, able to communicate and engage effectively across all levels of the business
12. Resource planning skills
13. Good knowledge of relevant legislation
14. Knowledge of financial budgeting
15. Target setting and monitoring
16. Market/competition awareness
17. Commercial understanding; risk and return
18. People management skills e.g. counselling, disciplinary, appraisal and interviewing
19. Formal report writing/presentation
20. Influencing and negotiating
