Overview
In this role, you'll take ownership of the planning and delivery of orders, ensuring efficient use and coordination of drivers and fleet resources. You'll oversee all aspects of driver operations — from route planning and scheduling to coaching, supporting, and debriefing — all while delivering an exceptional service to our customers.
You will be responsible for planning across the ST, CW and SY postcode areas, ensuring smooth, efficient, and cost-effective transport operations.
Duties
· Plan and manage daily delivery routes across ST, CW and SY postcode areas.
· Ensure vehicles operate at full capacity and minimise empty running.
· Action any vehicle defects promptly.
· Communicate with customers regarding collection times and delays.
· Schedule and book deliveries efficiently.
· Provide outstanding levels of customer care.
· Build and maintain strong internal and external working relationships.
· Debrief drivers upon return.
· Manage your time effectively to meet deadlines and operational targets.
Qualifications
· Proven experience as a Transport Planner or Traffic Clerk, or in an operational logistics/haulage role.
· Strong communication skills and a confident telephone manner.
· Solid understanding of transport compliance, safety, and legal requirements.
· Experience planning multiple delivery schedules.
· Excellent IT skills, including MS Office and Excel.
· Strong analytical skills and the ability to work under pressure.
· Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
· Ability to build positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
