Veterinary Surgeon
St Mary’s Veterinary Clinic, Ferndown
Salary up to £65,000 depending on experience plus benefits
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join our team. A normal day would consist of two hours consulting and two hours operating in the mornings with an hours break for lunch and then consulting in the afternoon.

There are no night duties at St Mary's as we are covered by Vets Now. The rota is Monday to Friday 9:00 - 18:30 (with one half day each week), plus a 1 in 3 Saturday morning. There are regular clinical meetings and frequent informal case discussions. Appropriate support is supplied, dependent on the needs of the successful candidate.

St Mary's Veterinary Clinic is a small animal clinic based in Dorset, with ready access to the Jurassic coast and New Forest, with good air and rail connections from the nearby towns of Bournemouth and Poole.
We have an in-house laboratory, Digital X-ray and Dental X-ray facilities, modern ultrasound, endoscope, bronchoscope and other toys. Most cases are dealt with in-house but we have a close support from Southern Counties Veterinary Services, one of the largest referral centres in the UK. We are renowned for being a caring, family feel practice and have cat friendly status.

We are a 3 Vet, 6 Nurse practice and are part of the IVC graduate training academy. We also pride ourselves on being a nurse training practice. We have an exceptionally friendly team all with a great sense of humour. If you want to take part in the regular eating of cake and biscuits, you have to be quick, and, have very sharp elbows.
Our ideal candidate
The successful candidate should be able to work to a high standard and have experience in consulting, routine surgery and case work ups. You must be able to cope with sole charge, although in general, this will only happen on a Saturday morning. Appropriate support and training is available.
