This is a Fixed-term post for 12 months.


About the role

The Employment Case Investigator plays a crucial, independent role within the Employee Experience team, leading the full lifecycle of complex and sensitive workplace investigations. In this role you will:

* Lead end-to-end investigations into a wide range of workplace matters.
* Conduct intake assessments, investigative interviews, evidence gathering and detailed analysis, adhering to ACAS good practice and relevant employment law.
* Document findings in clear, comprehensive investigation reports, drawing objective conclusions and making recommendations for resolution.
* Partner effectively with HR, managers, trade unions and legal colleagues to ensure appropriate and legally sound case handling.
* Identify and report on themes, trends and systemic issues emerging from cases to contribute to continuous improvement in policies and culture.
* Deliver training, guidance and coaching on best practice in conducting workplace investigations to stakeholders.
* Exercise independent judgment in scoping, conducting and concluding investigations, managing a caseload often within tight timescales.
* Build and maintain trusting relationships with managers, employees, trade unions and senior leaders, engaging with all parties sensitively and respectfully.

About you

* Relevant professional qualification in HR (CIPD Level 5 or above), Employee Relations, and/ or Employment Law.
* Strong knowledge of UK employment law, ACAS guidance and best practice in employee relations.
* Experience conducting complex employment investigations in unionised or regulated environments.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan, prioritise and manage multiple investigations simultaneously.
* Ability to demonstrate personal impartiality, empathy and resilience in handling highly sensitive situations.
* Demonstrable alignment with AfC’s values: trust, empower, respect.
* High level of personal credibility and sound judgment to engage effectively with the business.
* Evidence of personal determination, drive and ambition to achieve challenging objectives and deliver excellent outcomes.
