Job Description:
A growing diagnostics team are seeking experienced R&D Engineers to support the design, prototyping, and testing of electro-mechanical systems for a next-gen diagnostic platform. This is a hands-on contract role suited to engineers with a strong background in mechanical systems, fluidics, and product development within regulated industries.
What you’ll be doing:
* Design, build, and test systems, sub-systems, and lab fixtures to meet evolving project requirements
* Lead experiments to optimise performance and troubleshoot technical challenges
* Analyse, interpret, and present experimental results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, electronics, IC design, and process engineering
* Support the development and testing of prototype instruments both in-house and with external partners
* Apply novel methods and creative thinking to solve complex electro-mechanical problems
What you’ll bring:
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar), with significant post-grad R&D experience
* Deep understanding of fluid dynamics, system mechanics, and basic electronics
* Skilled in CAD and CAE tools such as SolidWorks and COMSOL
* Familiarity with microfluidics, pneumatics, and thermal control systems
* Ability to make sound engineering decisions and communicate findings effectively
Bonus if you have:
* Experience designing sealed fluidic plastic parts
* Exposure to regulated environments (ISO 13485 preferred)
* Programming experience or scripting knowledge for lab automation
* Track record of planning and conducting scientific experiments for process optimisation
This is a great opportunity for an Engineer who enjoys variety, autonomy, and working closely with other disciplines to get things moving from lab to product.
