The Commercial Vehicle Driving Instructor position is an 9-month, tenure-track faculty position with an anticipated start date of January 2024. This position requires effective teaching and advising of diverse students, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. The truck driving program provides quality educational opportunities for students seeking to enter the truck driving arena earning their Class “A” unrestricted license and Commercial Vehicle Driving Career Certificate, in order to meet the supply and demand needs of the community. The successful candidate will teach courses in the program with the possibility of day, evening, or weekend assignments as assigned. The instructor will prepare course plans and materials, effectively deliver subject matter content, monitor student attendance and progress, participate on departmental and College committees, participate in curriculum development, support activities that foster retention, participate in the selection of textbooks, perform the assessment of student learning outcomes, and take part in other service and professional development activities. This position reports to the Dean, Workforce Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or its equivalent required. Possess a current State of Florida’s Class ‘A’ License and five years of full-time tractor-trailer truck driving experience. Must be considered insurable. Successful results of a criminal background check and drug screen required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Certified Commercial Vehicle Driving Instructor and approved FLHSMV Third Party Commercial Driver License Tester.
SALARY RANGE (2023-2024 Academic Year):
$36,950.00 - $42,950.00 for a 9-month contract with a Bachelor’s degree or less.

Pay Details:
Faculty members hired with less than three years of related experience shall be placed on the salary schedule as follows:
164 Day Base (2023 - 2024)
1. Bachelor's or Less - $36,950
2. Master's - $39,700
3. Master's Plus - $41,450
4. Doctorate - $44,450
All degree classification levels add the appropriate dollars (up to $6,000) for years of credited experience to the annual salary figures above to determine entry salary.
