Main duties of the job
Being a Ward Manager is more than just managing a team. Its being a leader, an expert, driving positive culture, providing guidance, nurturing talent, and looking after everyone in the ward. With experience from the NHS or private care you will lead the nursing team to provide high‑quality care and support to young people within a mental health setting, while also supporting colleagues and promoting good teamwork.
Job responsibilities
* Lead the nursing team and provide high quality care and support to young people within a mental health setting.
* Empower recovery and deliver supervision to staff across the ward to deliver great healthcare.
* Work alongside the senior nurse to manage on‑call service and ward budgets.
* Lead by example, act as a role model to all members of the nursing team, and create a positive learning environment.
* Provide Clinical Leadership and expertise, deliver leadership and guidance, ensure high standards under Clinical Governance framework, supervise nursing staff, be an expert resource on nursing care of service users within the specialism, maintain a positive collaborative environment, and designate to take charge of the ward.
Qualifications
* A relevant nursing qualification.
* NMC registration.
* A positive attitude and naturally caring and compassionate.
* A commitment to high‑quality care, values, and evidence‑based practice.
* Relevant experience in a similar environment.
* Proven track record of leadership skills.
