VANRATH are delighted to be assisting a major Construction Client with the Recruitment of a Operations/ Contracts Manager to join a growing and dynamic team based in Newry.
Salary - £55,000 + Benefits Package
Mon-Fri-09:00-17:00
Responsibilities:
1. A leader, operating as a key member developing and delivering our growth strategy
2. Delivery of at least £5m+ of construction services projects profitably, and on-time

4. Being 'hands on' through site visits to ensure each project is going according to plan in terms of remit, budget and time

7. Manage compliance with all quality, health and safety and legal requirements
8. Recruit, retain and manage a team of Site managers, quantity surveyors and other professionals to deliver high performance. ( We have a lot of business starting so need to grow a key team. We have a low staff turnover and high employee satisfaction, we still want to improve on our retention, employee engagement and commitment to the 'brand'
9. Work with, hire and develop, a commercial team, supporting them in securing new business via tender or negotiation, and contract management
10. Ambition to take the next step and be part of our company succession plan
11. Become part of the core team of an ambitious and growing Business to become the Brand people think of when they see Civil Engineering
12. Ensure that every contract signed by the company contributes to its goals and objectives. Supervise and manage the contract team in an organization and negotiate contracts with suppliers and vendors.
13. Draft a variety of contracts and agreements for the company.
14. Programme planning - Plan projects and ensure they are programmed to a level of detail necessary for the site team to deliver the scheme without delays
15. Ensure procurement and reconciliation of materials is carried out in accordance with Company procedures to best value and to prevent delays
16. Ensure site team compliance with Company commercial policies and procedures
17. Attend tender handover meetings and deliver pre-start meetings to the site team Ensure a commercial plan and end of life forecast is in place and monitored monthly for the successful commercial delivery of the project.
The Person:
18. Extensive experience of managing projects within a civils/water environment
19. Good working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, programme and risk management and cost control including forecasting, actual cost and value reporting
20. Experience of MS project, develop and train team
21. Knowledge of the all types of Contracts including the Early Warning and Compensation Event mechanisms
22. Educated as a minimum to HNC/HND/Degree level (or equivalent)
23. CSCS card
24. Experience of Pre-Qualification and Tendering process for a number of multi-discipline projects
25. Excellent people management skills with the ability to influence and mentor
26. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with both customers and all levels of staff
27. Problem solving skills and analytical thinking
