We are looking for an outstanding Kitchen Assistant who is passionate about food and eager to make a difference.
You will work part-time, 18 hours per week (3 x 6-hour shifts weekly) at Cygnet Fountains, creating an excellent experience for those in our care.
Cygnet Fountains is a high-support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service for men with severe and enduring mental illness, some of whom may have been detained under the Mental Health Act. Our residents often come to us after multiple placement breakdowns, unsuccessful treatment programs, or stepping down from secure settings.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:
* Assisting in the preparation of balanced, appetising meals
* Performing cooking tasks and other kitchen duties
* Ensuring the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas, and dining room
* Washing utensils and dishes, and storing them appropriately
* Rotating stock and managing deliveries
* Maintaining personal hygiene to meet Cygnet standards and food hygiene regulations
* Handling, maintaining, and storing kitchen equipment according to procedures
* Using chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations

Candidate requirements:
* At least 2 years of experience in a commercial catering environment, preferably within care
* A valid food hygiene certificate and good personal hygiene standards
* Enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, and team spirit
* Politeness, professionalism, and a positive attitude
* Excellent communication skills for liaising at all levels
* Diligence and pride in maintaining high cleanliness standards
* Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and under supervision
Note: Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
