Role: Grid Connection Engineer
Salary: £60,000 - £80,000
Location: Hertfordshire, hybrid role with required 3 days in office
Our Client:
Our client is at the forefront of renewable energy development, specialising in solar farms and battery-based energy storage systems, there're expanding their team to drive further growth and innovation in the sector.
They're seeking a proactive Grid Connection Engineer to join our team. This role is pivotal in managing grid connections, overseeing project portfolios, and nurturing key relationships with industry stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead grid connection applications and project development, ensuring smooth progress
* Manage workload independently and report to the Network Infrastructure Lead
* Analyse complex grid-related issues and propose viable solutions during the application process
* Maintain a comprehensive data storage system for grid analysis and connection assessments
* Foster and sustain relationships with DNOs, DSOs, ESO, and TOs to facilitate smoother operations
* Drive the development of our client Capacity Estimation System (ACES) to enhance efficiency
* Stay abreast of RIIO Business Plan Components and relevant network publications for informed decision-making
* Conduct ongoing research to explore avenues for improving company capabilities
* Actively participate in industry working groups and forums to stay updated on industry trends

Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Minimum 5 years of experience in Grid Analysis and Modelling within the renewables sector
* Strong knowledge of solar and battery projects, including connection studies
* Proficiency in understanding UK Grid Infrastructure at both Distribution and Transmission levels
* Familiarity with software tools like PowerFactory, IPSA, and related platforms
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, essential for effective collaboration
* Ability to prioritise workload and manage risks efficiently, ensuring project success
Desirable Qualifications:
* Previous experience at a DNO, Transmission Owner, or System Operator, providing valuable insights
* Familiarity with complementary design software and scripting languages, enhancing productivity
* Coding or scripting experience in PowerFactory or IPSA, streamlining processes
