Job summary
Are you looking for a new challenge? An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, proactive and committed Band 7 Advanced OT to cover our Acute Occupational Therapy Medical team based at Warwick Hospital. The post is 30 hours per week and will involve 7 day working (one weekend in four) and covering the frailty assessment unit on an evening rota.
You will manage a caseload and provide leadership and professional support for the caseload of clients within the specialty. The team provides an occupational therapy service to A&E, the front door admission wards, all medical wards and the Frailty Assessment Unit.
You will be expected to develop and maintain a high quality Occupational Therapy service in line with Care Quality Standards and the COT professional standards, and meet recognised professional standards, therapy pathways and best practice to deliver the business objectives in line with Trusts policies and service protocols.
You will be assisting and deputising for the Principal OT in professional leadership, operational management, supervision and appraisals of all the staff within the specialty.
The service offers structured Personal Development Review (PDR) and Clinical Supervision systems, and actively promotes Continued Professional Development through in-service and other training.
Main duties of the job
To provide an effective service delivery and to be responsible for all Occupational Therapy staff within the speciality.
To manage an agreed caseload of patients and provide professional clinical support within the service speciality area.
To ensure the designated area of speciality implements and meets the recognised professional standards, the agreed therapy pathway and best practice.

To deliver a high standard of Occupational Therapy intervention andmaintain service delivery by flexible, effective and efficient prioritisationbased on specialist clinical and professional judgement.
To have knowledge of and apply the principles of the Mental Capacity Act inorder to gain consent for intervention for those patients who have capacityor best interest decision for those who lack capacity to consent.
To negotiate with client / carer to identify and formulate client centred,specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely (SMART) goals usingthe specialist assessment information and to complete designated outcomemeasures.
To select and apply standardised and non-standardised OccupationalTherapy and other professional assessment tools.
To plan, implement and review patient centred individual and/or groupassessments, interventions, using meaningful graded activity based onadvanced knowledge of best practice, clinical reasoning and knowledge ofOccupational Therapy models of practice.
