Role: Mechanical Estimator Location: Edinburgh, UK Job Type: Full-time Salary: Negotiable Our client is a multi-award-winning building services provider with over 45 years of experience delivering complex mechanical and electrical projects across Ireland, the UK, and Europe. With a proven track record in sectors like data centres, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and commercial developments, our client is expanding their estimating team and is now looking for a Mechanical Estimator to help support their continued growth. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale, high-profile projects as part of a dynamic and fast-paced estimating team. What You’ll Be Doing Manage and maintain tender folders to ensure accuracy and consistency across bids. Review all tender documentation thoroughly prior to estimate commencement, identifying any discrepancies between drawings, specifications, and summaries. Submit and track all RFIs using the correct documentation and ensure clear communication throughout the tender process. Prepare detailed mechanical estimates based on the tender summaries provided. Document and communicate all assumptions, clarifications, value engineering proposals, and conditions. Submit tenders and upload all relevant cost data to SharePoint. Record and manage project details in the internal management system. Follow up on submitted tenders and keep SharePoint updated accordingly. Participate in both internal and external meetings, including Tender Handover Meetings when bids are successful. Stay informed of industry trends, technologies, and standards. Work collaboratively across the estimating department and with other key business units. Ensure all submissions adhere to UK and Ireland T&Cs and client-specific requirements. What We’re Looking For Proven experience working as an Estimator within the Building Services or M&E sector. Strong attention to detail with a methodical and structured approach. Self-motivated with the ability to manage time and workload effectively. Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally within a team environment. Familiarity with tendering systems, documentation control, and digital bid management tools.
