C5A (WAL/W059/061/DCT1/004)Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with on-call at Prince Charles Hospital,Gurnos Road, Merthyr Tydfil, CF47 9DT (main training location) without-patient sessions at Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Ynysmaerdy,Llantrisant, Pontyclun, CF72 8XR and Porth Dental Teaching Unit,Leith House, Pontypridd Road, CF39 9PH.C5B (WAL/W073/064/DCT1/002)Paediatric Dentistry at University Dental Hospital, Heath Park, Cardiff,CF14 4XY

Job responsibilities
C5A: Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil, Oral and MaxillofacialSurgery with on-call 6 monthsOMFS post with 1 in 8 out of hours on-call rota in a busy DistrictGeneral Hospital. Experience will be gained in facial hard and softtissue trauma, oro-facial infection, deformity, pathology of the jawsand oral soft tissues, facial and oral neoplasia and dento-alveolarsurgery. Trainees will work in out-patient clinics, in-patient wards,A&E departments, Operating Theatres and Minor Surgery units.
C5B: University Dental Hospital, Paediatric Dentistry 6 monthsThe Paediatric Dentistry clinic is a secondary and tertiary referralcentre that provides dental treatment for children unable to receivecare in a primary care setting. Reasons for referral are diverse, andinclude dental anxiety, complicating medical conditions, specialneeds, dento-alveolar trauma and specific conditions such as hypodontia and other craniofacial abnormalities. The DCT1 traineewill gain experience of treatment planning cases with Consultants andSpecialists in Paediatric Dentistry, as well as managing paediatricdental patients, utilising inhalation sedation wherenecessary. Children attending as an emergency with pain, swellingand dental trauma will also be seen as part of this post. At the end ofthis post the trainee will be able to treatment plan simple cases andfeel confident to manage more complex paediatric patients.Previous experience of inhalation sedation would be advantageous.
