Finance Officer – Education SectorWe’re working with a growing Multi Academy Trust to recruit a Finance Officer into their central finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys transactional finance, working with systems and processes, and being part of a supportive team within a multi‑site education environment.The role would suit an experienced finance professional who is confident handling day‑to‑day finance tasks,municates well with non‑finance colleagues, and is keen to build a longer‑term career in education. There’s scope for development and progression over time for someone looking to grow their skills and take on more responsibility.
The roleYou’ll be working as part of a centralised team, supporting schools/sites with their everyday finance needs. Responsibilities will include:
1. Processing purchase invoices, coding, approvals and supplier reconciliations
2. Raising and monitoring purchase orders through the finance system
3. Supporting sales invoicing, ie posting and basic credit control
4. Posting routine journals and keeping debtor and creditor balances up to date
5. Reconciling bank, control, petty cash and credit card accounts
6. Supporting school funds, cashless payment systems (such as ParentPay), and inter‑account transfers
7. Acting as a friendly first point of contact for finance queries from schools
8. Assisting with month‑end, year‑end and audit preparation
About youThis role would suit someone who:
9. Has experience in a transactional finance or accounts role within a structured, process‑driven environment
10. Isfortable working with financial systems and enjoys getting things right first time
11. Has good Excel skills and general confidence with IT
12. Is organised, reliable and able to manage a varied workload
13. Understands the importance of confidentiality, particularly in an education setting
Experience in education, academies or the public sector (and systems such as PS Financials, Access or IRIS) would be helpful, but isn’t essential.
