Job Description:
Job Description:
Scientists and Engineers, do you enjoy your work? Do you crave the opportunity to work with the latest technology and alongside industry leading experts? Leonardo offers a pathway to take you from scientific research into engineering roles.
We are seeking individuals with knowledge or qualifications in applied physics, electro-optics, signal processing, artificial intelligence, radar systems, robotics and autonomy, applied mathematics and statistics, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or advanced servo control engineering.
These roles are based on-site in Southampton, Basildon, or Bristol with a hybrid working model.
This is an excellent opportunity to utilize and develop your skills within a leading technology company, working on real engineering problems and designing solutions integral to our products. We also offer an award-winning package.
About the Role
As a Systems Engineer, you will bridge the gap between theoretical possibilities and practical system implementation. We welcome scientists and engineers from diverse backgrounds to contribute to early concepts and develop them into working radar solutions.
You do not need an engineering background to make a difference. Our System Engineers often come from scientific disciplines.
Responsibilities include:
* Applied research: exploring new technologies or concepts.
* High-level design: understanding the impact of design decisions on performance.
* Low-level design: detailed design, prototyping, and optimization within your technical domain.
We support your technical and professional growth, providing challenging work in a fast-paced but relaxed environment. We value our engineers' expertise and autonomy, fostering decision-making confidence and career development.
We are recruiting for various roles suited to different backgrounds and skills. Based on your expertise, we will assess the best fit and discuss options with you.
About You
Ideally, you hold a PhD, EngD, or equivalent research experience in Mathematics, Engineering, or related Technology fields, or have proven experience. No specific electronic warfare domain knowledge is required, as support is provided.
We are interested if you have:
* Experience collaborating within research groups or wider teams.
* A drive for continuous learning and skill improvement.
* A methodical approach to solving complex problems.
* Experience leading or overseeing technical research or development tasks.
* An understanding of Systems Engineering processes.
* Programming experience for problem-solving or modeling; familiarity with Matlab and Simulink is a plus.
All applicants must be eligible for UK security clearance and access to sensitive information. For guidance, visit: UK Security Vetting Levels
What we Offer
Competitive salary based on experience and skills, plus an award-winning benefits package including:
* Flexible working hours and hybrid options.
* Company-funded benefits: private healthcare, dental, Workplace ISA, Go Green Car Scheme, tech and lifestyle allowances (£500/year).
* Up to 45 days holiday, including bank holidays and flexible leave options.
* Up to 23% total pension contributions.
* Wellbeing support: Employee Assistance Programme, mental health and financial wellbeing support, diversity networks.
* Discounted gym memberships, cycle-to-work scheme.
* Access to over 4000 online courses via Coursera.
