You will be joining a supportive and friendly team based in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire with a proven track record of internal career promotion to senior roles. You will be supported to work as an autonomous practitioner managing a varied patient caseload consisting of high risk/diabetes/wound care/biomechanics. Care is delivered in a variety of settings including community clinics/GP practices, care/nursing homes and people's homes. We provide a supportive working environment through induction and mentorship, you will also work alongside experienced podiatrists and be encouraged in your professional development, having regular access to 1:1's with your line manager and clinical supervision. We are committed to promoting evidence-based practice and delivering a high standard of care throughout the service. Our aim is to enable people to live longer and healthier lives and to access care and support close to where they live.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high standard of podiatric care to maintain tissue viability, mobility and independence for patients that are high risk or have an acute foot infection. Delivered through assessment, diagnosis and developing of appropriate care plans.
To provide planning and management of own caseload, with support and guidance from senior colleagues. Includes, specialist care for patients with diabetes, rheumatoid and biomechanical problems. Also includes specialist treatment plans for patients with a variety of clinical needs, including acute and chronic neuropathies, vascular, tissue viability problems and wound management.
To assess new and existing patients and use clinical judgements to ensure patients meet the access criteria and appropriately signpost to alternative providers when required (referring to mentor/senior podiatrist for support where appropriate).
To screen high-risk patients to monitor their condition and the degree of risk to their foot health, including neurological and vascular assessments.
To undertake domiciliary visits across the region.
To refer complex cases onto senior colleagues and/or other departments and discharge patients where appropriate as per referral pathways and guidelines.
To effectively communicate by involving and informing patients/carers of their care plan and its progress, overcoming potential communication barriers.
Provide foot health education and advice to patients, relatives, and carers in both one-to-one and group sessions.

Essential
1. Degree/diploma in Podiatry ( or pending if student graduating 2024)
2. Registered with Health and Care Professions Council ( or pending if student graduating 2024)
3. Certificate of Local Anaesthesia
Skills and Experience

4. Excellent communication skill both verbal and written
5. Ability to assess, formulate and implement treatment plans
6. Ability to work independently or as part of a team
7. Ability to work under pressure and respond to change
8. Knowledge of using Dopplers and undertaking neurological tests
9. Ability to provide health education
10. Understanding of Clinical Governance
11. Knowledge of the management of foot pathologies
12. Excellent organisational skills
