Job Overview

OPERATIONAL TEAM LEADER

Salary: Band 7

We are looking for an experienced and engaged Paramedic to join our operational leadership team at Brighton.

The successful applicant will be a keen problem solver, a caring individual, and dedicated to providing compassionate leadership to our frontline teams.

To apply, you must have successfully completed a minimum of two years as a practicing Experienced Paramedic at Band 6 by the advert closing date.

You should have the passion and drive to support your team in delivering the highest levels of patient care and clinical safety.

Interviews will be held over two days. If shortlisted, you will be required to attend an EPRR assessment on Monday, 14th July. Only if successful will you be invited to the second interview on Thursday, 24th July.

Main duties of the job

We seek highly motivated, operationally focused HCPC registered clinicians who wish to develop and lead an effective operational team. This includes ensuring the delivery of clinical and non-clinical KPIs at Brighton.

Operational Team Leaders will provide effective leadership, clinical and management support, maintain staff welfare, support personal development, and review performance.

You will also perform Operational Command duties, including managing large-scale and major incidents.

You will act as a line manager for operational staff, providing support, welfare, and development.

Working for our organization

This role requires excellent communication skills, flexibility, and high personal organization to prioritize effectively and handle various issues. You must be an excellent problem solver, demonstrating flexibility in adapting to the Trust's changing priorities.

The salary range is aligned with Agenda for Change pay scales. Successful applicants will be placed at the bottom of the band unless relevant NHS or equivalent experience is demonstrated.

Following legislation revisions regarding COVID-19 vaccination, we recommend that new starters in patient-facing roles are vaccinated unless medically exempt, to protect frontline staff. We will seek vaccination status information from successful applicants.

All positions require a DBS check appropriate to the role, which may be basic, standard, or enhanced. Details will be outlined in the conditional offer.

Applicants must declare any unspent or unfiltered convictions. Shortlisted candidates will need to complete a self-declaration form before the interview. For questions about disclosures, contact the Recruitment Advisor listed on the vacancy.

We are committed to inclusivity and offer flexible working, staff engagement networks, and support for diverse backgrounds. We encourage applications from under-represented groups, including disabled, BAME, and other minority candidates.

We support reasonable adjustments for disabled applicants and are dedicated to providing ongoing support post-employment.

When applying, use your name as on your passport and include contact details for referees to avoid delays. We cannot employ anyone under 18.

Many roles involve travel between sites. Applicants must have suitable car insurance coverage.

If you need an application in an accessible format, contact recruitment@secamb.nhs.uk with the vacancy reference number.

Include details covering the last three years in your references.

Due to high application volumes, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If no contact within 10 working days after closing, assume you were not shortlisted. Check your Trac Jobs account regularly.

The Trust may close the vacancy early if sufficient applications are received.

Follow us on Twitter @SECAmbRecruit, Facebook, and LinkedIn for updates.

If you are a current employee, successful applicants will transfer to the new terms and conditions. Unsocial hours payments are claimed via timesheets, as detailed in the Agenda for Change handbook and The Zon.
