About Your Role
We are looking to appoint an Associate Highway Engineer into WSP's Liveable Places team. The role can be based from any of our Leeds, London, Newcastle or Southampton offices with flexible working allowing for a mix of home and in‑office work.
As an Associate Engineer, you will take the lead on delivering a wide range of schemes from concept to delivery—including public realm, active travel, traffic engineering, road safety, parking, traffic signals and pedestrian/traffic modelling.
* Work directly with our clients to achieve their sustainable transport needs
* Undertake technical preparation, review and checking of deliverables within the team
* Act as Project Manager on a wide range of projects while helping to grow and develop our work with clients
* Stay informed about industry trends and best practice
* Oversee projects budget and financial performance
* Collaborate with the Liveable Places team, the wider Mobility team, and the wider WSP business to achieve our aims and objectives
About Your Team
The Liveable Places team is based in offices across the country, currently consisting of over 200 staff with further growth planned. What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
* A civil engineering degree, transport planning degree or equivalent
* Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (desirable)
* Knowledge of current transport policy and standards
* Proven ability to support work winning and support the growth of our Liveable Places team
* Proven ability to lead and manage project teams and individuals
* Proven track record in project management and financial control
* Passion for mentoring and developing talent
* Transport, road safety, parking and traffic engineering experience
* Good spoken and written communication skills, including liaising with public sector officials, members of the public and other senior colleagues
