Job overview

Dermatology Outpatients delivers a range of nurse led treatments, minor surgical procedures and Consultant clinics.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated senior nurse who can demonstrate the ability to lead and motivate staff. You will be a team player with good communication and organisational skills and clinical management experience. You will have a positive can do attitude and always striving for the best for your patients and nursing staff.

This role manages the Dermatology Outpatients service at James Cook University Hospital, Onelife Centre Middlesbrough as well as having oversight of offsite clinics at Friarage Hospital, and North Tees.


Key results and deliverables

* Compliance with CQC standards
* Safe staffing levels daily and ensuring provision of an out-of-hour service
* Ensuring the service complies with JAG standards and maintains accreditation
* Daily management of capacity to support demand
* Maintaining agreed KPIs for both performance and staffing
* Diagnostic targets
* HR KPIs (SDR, sickness, training compliance)
* Manage expenditure within budgets


Main duties of the job

* You will have the ability to engage clinically with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
* You will have in depth proven clinical knowledge guiding the nursing team to work within this framework. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to sensitively manage change.
* The post holder will be expected to have responsibility for the department both at The James Cook University Hospital and the One Life to provide professional clinical leadership, advice and guidance for the team. You will need to have problem solving skills and be able to enhance patient pathways with innovation / improvements based on current research / guidance.

* NMC registered
* Degree / diploma in Nursing plus specialist training to masters level
* Demonstrable experience in management, including direct line management responsibility


Knowledge & Skills

* Evidence of further professional development, academically and clinically
* A good understanding of research and audit and clinical governance
* An awareness of Government Documents / Policies in relation to changes within the National Health Service
* Excellent communication skills
* Demonstrates the ability to function as both a team member and team leader
* Presentation and teaching skills

* Experience of management and planning of the provision of services
* Evidence of involvement in the training and development of staff
