Make a Difference as a Support Mentor in Supported Accommodation (16–18 years)

Are you passionate about empowering young people as they transition to independence? At Homes for Support, our Supported Accommodation team is growing and needs committed, compassionate individuals to join our team as Support Mentors. This is your opportunity to support young people aged 16–18, including care leavers and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC), helping them build skills for life and reach their full potential.

We are a strong and well-structured Ofsted-registered team of professionals supporting young people leaving care and UASC. Our semi-independent shared and solo-living Homes are close to our Head Office and in-house Training Venue in Crewe, Cheshire, ensuring easy access to support, resources, and community.

What We’re Looking For

To join us as a Support Mentor, you should:

1. Hold a full UK driving licence and be comfortable driving for work
2. Demonstrate a passion for working with young people in a supportive and professional capacity
3. Show the ability to foster independence and resilience through consistent, child-centred support

What You'll Be Doing

As a Support Mentor, you will:

1. Build strong, professional relationships with young people based on trust, respect, and consistency
2. Follow and complete care planning, tenancy checks, risk assessments, and support documentation in line with the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023. Accompany young people to appointments where needed in line with their care and support plans
3. Conduct daily residential support visits, ensuring clean, safe, and well-equipped living spaces. Carry out weekly tenancy checks in solo-living settings and maintain cleanliness and hygiene in shared group homes
4. Enable young people to access education, training, leisure, and community opportunities
5. Support the development of key life skills including budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and managing appointments
6. Support the development of positive relationships with family and friends
7. Signpost young people to professional services and liaise with external agencies to ensure coordinated care
8. Advocate for young people and represent Homes for Support in meetings with professionals and external agencies
9. Empower young people to build confidence, achieve goals, and prepare for independence
10. Transport young people as needed and support them to develop independent travel skills
