Description

About the Role:
We're looking for an Automation Engineer to join our team on a fixed term contract for a minimum of 9 months, with the potential to extend.

You will design, build and maintain production-ready internal applications using low-code platforms that streamline operations and empower teams across the business.

Working autonomously within an agile environment, you'll translate business requirements from Product Managers and internal stakeholders into intuitive, high-quality solutions that deliver measurable value and are consistently delivered on time.

This is a hybrid role, with an expectation to be in the Bristol office 2 -3 days per week.

Responsibilities

* Design, build and maintain production‑ready internal applications using low‑code platforms to streamline operational processes.
* Translate business requirements from Product Managers and stakeholders into intuitive, user‑friendly tools and automated workflows.
* Develop and support API integrations, database interactions and workflow automation to improve efficiency across teams.
* Ensure all solutions are high‑quality, scalable and delivered on time within an agile development environment.
* Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to understand needs, gather feedback and drive continuous improvement.
* Monitor, maintain and optimise existing applications to ensure reliability, performance and long‑term usability.
* Contribute to operational tooling and automation initiatives that enhance productivity and unlock data‑driven insights.

Skills and Experience

* 2–3+ years’ hands‑on experience building applications in Retool or similar low‑code platforms, with the ability to design intuitive UIs and efficient workflows.
* Ability to gather and translate stakeholder requirements into clear technical specifications and reusable components.
* Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, authentication (OAuth, JWT, API keys) and integrating applications with external data sources.
* Proficiency in SQL and experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL or MongoDB.
* Proven ability to estimate effort, meet deadlines and deliver reliably within Scrum or Kanban frameworks.
* Experience creating and executing QA test plans and ensuring applications are well‑documented and production‑ready.
* Strong communication skills, with experience collaborating across teams, presenting demos and managing expectations.
