Overview

Out of Hours Team Leader Registered Veterinary Nurse — Location: Cave Referrals. Hours: ideally full-time (37.5 hours/week); part-time considered. Twilight or night hours considered. Salary: starting from £35,000 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Your role and responsibilities

A Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) Team Leader position is available at Cave Veterinary Specialists, Wellington, Somerset. We welcome applications from part-time applicants. Our RVN team supports patients across disciplines including internal medicine, oncology, neurology, soft tissue, orthopaedic surgery and dentistry. The successful candidate will have opportunities to expand knowledge in referral veterinary nursing, lead the night team and develop the night Lead RVN.

Main purpose & goals:

* Maintain an overview of the nursing team you are responsible for and ensure the highest standard of nursing and client care across the team, in line with practice policy and Linnaeus business strategy.
* Demonstrate a high level of knowledge, understanding and practical skills within the area of responsibility to lead by example.
* Liaise with other Team Leaders and departments to ensure efficient patient flow throughout the hospital.
* Represent the nursing team at nurse leadership meetings; provide information and cascade relevant information back to the team.
* Work closely with Veterinary Surgeons, HoNS and non-clinical teams; attend regular meetings to ensure all areas of the practice collaborate effectively.
* Ensure the efficient running of the clinical service through management of the nursing team, and support with coordinating workflow or general nursing duties as needed.
* Monitor performance of team members, perform regular performance reviews and provide training and support to uphold high standards of care.
* Collaborate with HoNS and People and Organisation to manage any performance, disciplinary or attendance concerns within the nursing team.
* Approximately 80% of the role is clinical, with 20% for administrative duties.
