Role Overview
As Director of design, you will lead architectural projects from concept to completion, collaborate with planning, heritage, and urban design colleagues, and drive business development by securing new work and expanding our architectural offer.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead architectural projects across all RIBA stages, tailoring designs to regional needs and individual expertise.
* Act as a trusted advisor to clients, consultants, and stakeholders, influencing decision‑making and securing positive outcomes.
* Drive business development: win new work, expand client networks, prepare proposals, and position Pegasus Group as a design leader.
* Manage internal teams and coordinate with external partners to maintain quality, consistency, and timely delivery.
* Champion good design practices and contribute to the long‑term growth and direction of the architecture discipline.
* Progress into a broader leadership role: mentor junior staff, shape team culture, and guide strategic development.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven ability to engage, influence, and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels to unlock opportunities and drive business growth.
* Collaborative mindset with readiness for leadership and client relationship responsibilities.
* RIBA Part III qualification or international equivalent; ARB registration preferred.
* Minimum 5 years’ post‑registration experience in a recognised design consultancy.
* Demonstrated experience across all RIBA stages, including design leadership and technical delivery.
* Track record of delivering projects in residential, mixed‑use, commercial, regeneration, or education sectors.
* Proactive approach to design, project management, and business development.
* Solid understanding of UK building regulations and planning frameworks.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills, inspiring confidence in clients and colleagues.
* Advanced proficiency in Revit; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and visualisation tools is advantageous.
