The Role
We're seeking an experienced Executive Search Consultant to build and manage a portfolio of retained search clients in the construction sector. This role focuses on securing and executing retained search assignments for C-suite, VP, and Director-level positions within leading construction firms.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop new business opportunities and secure retained search assignments through strategic outreach and relationship building with construction industry leaders [For contingent version: Manage contingent search assignments with approved clients, ensuring clear terms of engagement]
2. Create compelling retained search proposals and lead client pitch presentations [For contingent version: Qualify new contingent opportunities and negotiate favorable terms]
3. Build strong business cases for retained search partnerships and demonstrate ROI to potential clients [Remove for contingent version]
4. Establish fee structures and negotiate retainer agreements with new clients [For contingent version: Manage fee negotiations for contingent assignments]
5. Develop and maintain relationships with C-level executives and board members in the construction industry
6. Foster long-term relationships with C-suite candidates, maintaining regular contact and understanding their career aspirations
7. Lead full-cycle executive search processes, from initial client engagement through successful placement and onboarding
8. Create detailed position specifications and candidate assessment frameworks aligned with clients' strategic objectives
9. Conduct in-depth interviews and assessments of executive candidates
10. Present comprehensive candidate evaluations and make strategic hiring recommendations to client stakeholders
11. Negotiate complex compensation packages and facilitate offer processes
12. Drive revenue growth through new client acquisition and expanded relationships with existing clients
13. Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets for retained search assignments [For contingent version: Meet or exceed quarterly and annual placement targets]
Required Qualifications
14. 2+ years of executive search experience, with a proven track record of winning retained search business [For contingent version: with a proven track record of successful contingent placements]
15. Demonstrated success in completing C-level and VP-level searches for construction companies
16. Strong sales acumen and experience selling retained search services [For contingent version: Strong business development skills in contingent recruitment]
17. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with C-suite executives
18. Deep understanding of the construction industry
19. Established network of construction industry executives and decision-makers
20. Outstanding negotiation and closing skills
