We’re representing a top-tier, independent education institution based near Swindon. This is a full-time, on-site IT Support Engineer role where you’ll combine your technical expertise with a people-first approach. You'll provide day-to-day support to staff and students while also playing a key role in delivering IT training and contributing to a forward-thinking IT strategy. The Role You’ll be the go-to person for 1st line support, user onboarding, training, and helping to shape how technology is used across a large, diverse organisation. Your responsibilities will include: Resolving hardware, software, printer, and network issues (1st line) Supporting Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, Google Workspace, and Teams Managing user accounts in Active Directory, M365, and RBAC Supporting mobile devices, applying MDM policies (e.g., Intune) Delivering basic IT training to users (1:1 and group settings) Onboarding new staff and ensuring access permissions are accurate Updating asset registers, tracking software licenses and renewals Escalating complex issues appropriately and documenting solutions Working closely with second-line engineers and the wider IT team Supporting a change management process with minimal disruption What You'll Need to Succeed Essential Skills & Experience: Solid 1st line support experience, ideally in a Windows-based environment Confidence supporting and administering Microsoft 365 apps and services Strong understanding of Active Directory, user provisioning, and permissions Basic knowledge of networking: DHCP, DNS, IP troubleshooting Excellent communication skills, you’ll be training and supporting users regularly A customer-first mindset, someone who enjoys helping others and solving problems Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative IT team Desirable (Nice to Have): Experience working in a school, college or other educational environment Familiarity with Cisco switches/routers, firewalls, or VLANs Knowledge of Intune, Microsoft Endpoint Manager, or MDM tools Experience supporting HyperV or VMware environments Understanding of network security principles (VPNs, RBAC, MFA) CompTIA A or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate Why This Role Is Different Up to £32,000 salary depending on experience 25 days holiday bank holidays pension staff discounts A well-known, prestigious organisation that will impress on your CV A role with variety, from break/fix support to delivering training sessions Gorgeous on-site location near Swindon, a unique setting with state-of-the-art facilities A team that values curiosity, innovation, and user experience Real opportunities for growth, training, and skill development Recruiter: Callum Thompson
