Your Role: Deputy Director for Engineering and Standards
As the Deputy Director for Engineering and Standards, you will play a pivotal role in our organization. This position is not just a job; it’s an opportunity to lead and innovate in the field of engineering and asset management. You will:
* Manage and assure the application of engineering and asset management data and technical standards.
* Build and maintain external relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
* Significantly impact England’s Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM), navigation, and water infrastructure.
* Lead the Agency’s Asset Management Technical Authority.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and technical leader who is passionate about enhancing the country’s resilience through effective asset management.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Criteria:
* Experience in a senior accountable engineering role within a major complex infrastructure or safety-critical program.
* Strong technical background in managing large-scale engineering projects, including construction, maintenance, and decommissioning.
* Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with a knack for customer relations and persuasion.
* Deep understanding of the UK legislative and policy landscape related to asset management.
* Proven experience in governance management and strategic oversight.
* Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
* Recognized as a role model in strategic leadership of multi-disciplinary standards, safety, and environmental practices.
Educational Requirements:
* A degree in an appropriate engineering discipline (e.g., civil, infrastructure, mechanical, or electrical engineering) with further learning to Master’s level as required for Chartered Engineer registration under UK-SPEC.
Professional Qualification Requirements:
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional registration from an internationally recognized engineering body.
Desirable Criteria:
* Institute of Asset Management Diploma or equivalent.
* Status of a Fellow of an Engineering Institution.
* Understanding of reservoirs, bridges, and land drainage law.
Working Conditions
Location: National, any EA office
Grade Rate: £81,000
