Specialty Dentist in Restorative (fixed‑term part‑time, 6PA) at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. The role focuses on delivering restorative dentistry for patients with head and neck cancer, providing mandibular advancement devices for obstructive sleep apnoea, and supervising undergraduate dental students.

Responsibilities
* Provide mandibular advancement devices for patients referred from sleep medicine services.
* Teach and supervise undergraduate dental students in clinical settings.
* Deliver restorative dentistry treatment for patients with head and neck cancer at every stage of their care journey.
* Develop and maintain clinical competencies required for the post.
* Participate in service development, including the adoption of digital technology and intra‑oral scanners.
* Ensure prompt attendance at scheduled direct clinical care programmed activities.
* Engage patients in shared decision‑making and respond to their care preferences.
Job Plan
Anticipated 6 programmed activities per week across Guys and St Thomas sites. The initial plan will be refined in consultation with the Clinical Lead within three months.
* Direct Clinical Care: teaching, mandibular advancement device provision, and head‑and‑neck cancer management.
* Other Programmed Activities: improvements to service delivery and related duties.
* Total Programmed Activities: 6 per week.
Person Specification
Professional Qualifications
* Full UK GDC registration and Licence to Practice.
Clinical Experience
* Management of patients with obstructive sleep apnoea using mandibular advancement devices.
* Management and treatment of patients with head and neck cancer.
* Supervision of undergraduate students treating their own patients.
Clinical Skills
* Assessment of patient suitability for MADs.
* Clear communication of MAD risks and benefits.
* Accurate record‑keeping for MAD construction.
* Fitting of MADs.
* Delivery of obturator prostheses for head and neck cancer patients.
* Use of intra‑oral scanners for digital impressions and protrusive records.
* Experience working in multidisciplinary team (MDT) settings.
Audit Management & IT
* Active participation in clinical governance, audit, and management.
* Knowledge of NHS policies and procedures.
* Experience conducting virtual clinics with Attend Anywhere or Microsoft Teams.
Research, Teaching Skill & Experience
* Critical appraisal of scientific literature and evidence‑based practice.
* Teaching and training of undergraduates, postgraduates, and junior medical staff.
* Publications in refereed journals.
* Research involvement in dentistry, OSA, or willingness to set up projects.
* Formal teaching qualification.
* Effective written and spoken communication in English.
* Leadership, decision‑making, and accountability.

Salary
£61,542 to £99,216 per annum, pro‑rata, excluding trust allowance.
