Your role:
As a Streetscene Operative you will play a key role in delivering a high standard cleaning resource across the borough. This will include driving a small pavement sweeper, inspection of play areas, removal of graffiti, sharps and dead animals, litter picking and fly tipping removals.
You will undertake a full range of grounds maintenance tasks, including grass cutting, pitch maintenance, hard landscaping, pruning and application of pesticides.
You will provide exceptional customer service, be equipped at dealing with a range of customers, and be the ‘eyes and ears’ of the Council when working in the borough.
You will lead by example and motivate others to work to collective goals and actively seek ways to improve the service, suggesting new ways of working and embracing change.
About you:
You will have knowledge, skills and experience in an operational Streetscene organisation or similar environment.
You will have the ability to operate a range of plant and machinery, including the full range of grass cutting equipment and power hand tools appropriate to the role.
You will demonstrate the ability to obtain the relevant qualifications to support the service delivery of play inspections and application of herbicide or the ability to demonstrate adequate knowledge and experience.
You will be able to work well both independently and as part of a team in a flexible manner, in order to meet deadlines and service demands.
It is also important that you have good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise with both colleagues and members of the public.
You must also be able to apply health and safety knowledge within the workplace and be well organised.
