HGV Trailer Fitter – Hadleigh, Suffolk Pay: £18.50/hr (Overtime at 1.5x) | Type: Full-time, Temp-to-Perm We are recruiting a skilled HGV Trailer Fitter for our client in Hadleigh, Suffolk. This is a full-time, temp-to-perm role offering competitive pay and overtime opportunities. Working Hours: Monday–Friday, flexible start/finish to suit workload (e.g., 06:00–15:30 or 08:00–17:30) with a 1-hour unpaid break. Overtime: Available after 42.5 hours/week at 1.5x basic pay. Key Requirements: Proven experience as a Trailer Fitter, Trailer Technician, or HGV Technician with demonstrable trailer systems knowledge IRTEC qualification Strong mechanical knowledge to service/repair mobile plant Welding/fabrication (MIG) competency and qualification is an advantage Solid understanding of air brakes/EBS, running gear, suspension, electrics, and body components Ability to interpret technical drawings and service manuals Full UK driving licence (HGV CE advantageous) Key Responsibilities: Inspection & Servicing: Conduct routine PMI/6-weekly inspections, safety checks, and scheduled maintenance to manufacturer specs and DVSA standards Repairs & Diagnostics: Diagnose and repair braking systems (air/EBS), suspension, running gear, lighting/electrics, bodywork, coupling/landing legs, roll/slider mechanisms, and tail-lifts where fitted Compliance & Documentation: Complete accurate job cards via FleetCheck, parts usage, defect rectification, and PMI records for audit readiness Parts & Tooling: Identify parts, liaise with suppliers, maintain workshop tools/plant in calibration and good order Mobile Plant Maintenance: Service and repair telehandlers, forklifts, Moffetts, and skid steers Health & Safety: Work safely following company procedures, RAMS, PUWER, and LOLER; maintain a clean, organised workshop Breakdowns: Support occasional roadside call-outs Continuous Improvement: Suggest reliability improvements and contribute to root-cause analysis of repeat defects
