Design Engineer The Design Engineer must have a broad knowledge of conference room technology and solutions and how the individual components are integrated to form systems that meet the client’s business requirements. They must be able to create conceptual diagrams to detail the design intent, create associated BOM and SOW documentation accurately and in a timely manner. The Design Engineer must also have a working knowledge of network architecture, videoconferencing systems, and supporting infrastructure. An expert in endpoint and infrastructure hardware and software from the major industry manufacturers, the Design Engineer must have the ability to architect optimized solutions for a wide range of requirements coupled with experience in designing solutions for a wide range of enterprise customers and the ability to convey a high level of competence to clients at all levels. Duties/ Responsibilities: This position will work closely with the sales and engineering team to create and document high quality designs and set the delivery and support teams up for success. The design Engineer will be an expert on conference technology and solutions and will make recommendations to clients and peers based on that expertise. The candidate for this position must be able to work independently and must build trusted working relationships with account managers and customers. This position must regularly communicate answers to complex questions and respond to detailed inquiries. providing suitable technical and commercially viable solutions. This position handles and is expected to protect all internal and external confidential information and must utilize discretion and judgment based on company policies and procedures. Work closely with Account Managers to meet business objectives and clients’ expectations Assist with the qualification of new opportunities Intensive interface with clients and job sites to document customer requirements and job site conditions. Provide and document customer design based on the client requirements and job site conditions. Adhere to global processes, contributing regularly to their continual improvement and efficiency. Set the installation and support teams up for success by using standard products and thoroughly documenting solutions, scope of work, and system functionality Work directly with clients, architects, consultants and staff throughout design development. and delivery process as required. Accurately develop a Statement of Work for each job based on standard system design and customer requirements. Develop system design drawings including, but not limited to, audiovisual system diagrams, drawings and sketches; Design/Build and Bid/Build specifications; and operational capabilities narratives, etc. Develop accurate job cost estimates for each job. Provide a technical response to customer RFP/RFQ/RFI. Be capable of working effectively and efficiently with support from other members of the Operations team. Communicate effectively with internal staff, client representatives, cooperative trades and subcontractors. Effectively coordinate and manage multiple system design inquiries. Be responsible for successfully completing assignments on time and within budget. Develop and conform to company technical standards and practices. Correctly interpret multiple formats of technical specifications, schematic drawings and architectural diagrams. Knowledge of and adherence to Yorktel policies and procedures including robust handover to Delivery teams. Other duties as assigned. Poly/Cisco/Microsoft/Zoom/Crestron/Extron/Biamp certification desirable. InfoComm CTS certification with Advanced CTS-D certification desirable. Willingness to pursue and attend additional training related to performance of job. Physical Requirements: Requires extensive sitting, standing and walking. Valid passport: Travel will be required across Europe. This may be visiting customers, completing onsite surveys, sales meetings and other travel as required. It is envisaged that on average 1 to 2 days per month may be spent travelling. Valid UK driver’s license Must be willing to complete background checks and drug tests as required by current or future contracts.
