Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Join an amazing SEND specialist primary and secondary school in Leicestershire that prides itself on providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from May 2025.
Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with teachers and SENCO to support the educational and emotional needs of students with SEND
2. Provide 1:1 or small group support across a range of age groups (primary and secondary)
3. Assist with adapting learning materials to meet the individual needs of students
4. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
5. Support with personal care (where required) and ensure student safety and well-being
6. Assist in implementing EHCPs and behaviour plans effectively
Requirements:
7. Previous experience working in a SEND setting or with children with additional needs
8. A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach
9. Excellent communication and teamwork skills
10. Ability to remain calm and confident in challenging situations
11. A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
12. Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
