FareShare Greater Manchester is the region’s largest food redistribution charity, fighting food poverty and hunger by tackling waste. We source good quality surplus food from retailers and manufacturers. We rely on volunteers to help redistribute this food to nearly 300 frontline charities, including school breakfast clubs, community centres, and organisations supporting those who are homeless, unemployed, or socially isolated.
As a Food Allocations Assistant, you will allocate surplus food to our Community Food Members (CFMs). Working closely with our Warehouse team and volunteers, you will accurately update our database with incoming food and confirm orders with CFMs via phone or in person.
You should have a can-do attitude, be a strong communicator, and able to work efficiently under pressure to meet tight deadlines, ensuring food moves in and out of the Warehouse before it expires. An interest in food and understanding of our database and the needs of CFMs will help you allocate food effectively.
We support diverse community groups and volunteers, so you should relate positively to people from various backgrounds and skill levels.
The role is based onsite at our Warehouse in New Smithfield Market. We are open to discussing your preferred working days.
