CAM Engineer
Contract: Initial 6 months, with potential extension to 9-12 months Location: Emersons Green, Bristol Rate: PAYE £30.70/hr + holiday pay or Umbrella £41.86/hr
About the Role Morson is currnetly recruiting a skilled CAM Engineer to join our composite manufacturing client in the Bristol area. We are looking for engineers specialising in programming and optimisation of automated composite manufacturing processes. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on innovative projects at the forefront of composite part production technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and program AFP (Automated Fibre Placement) / ATL (Automated Tape Laying) systems for composite component manufacturing.
Work with CAM and simulation tools to optimise fibre paths and manufacturing processes.
Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team to solve complex engineering challenges.
Ensure composite designs are manufacturable and meet defect control standards.
Translate plybooks and design data into efficient automated manufacturing strategies.
Apply best practices to manage manufacturing constraints and improve production outcomes.
Key Skills & Experience:
Experience programming AFP/ATL systems for composite manufacturing.
Proficiency in CAM and simulation software, ideally including CATIA V5/V6, CADFiber, CATFiber, and/or Vericut Composites.
Strong understanding of composite materials, fibre paths, plybooks, and defect prevention.
Knowledge of manufacturing constraints and best practices for automated layup processes.
Proactive, collaborative approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
