Qualifications
* Strong clinical foundation – Ideally with a background in providing therapy across a range of mental health issues.
* Membership – Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or equivalent.
* Supervision experience – Essential experience in supervising or mentoring counselors.
* Competency assessment skills – Ability to assess the competency of others, ensuring they work within their professional limits while fostering development.
* Communication and interpersonal skills – Excellent, empathetic, and supportive; create a safe and open environment for counselors to discuss difficult cases and emotional challenges.
* Qualifications in counseling supervision – Must possess necessary credentials.
Responsibilities
* Conducting Fortnightly Supervision Sessions – Facilitate group-based supervision sessions every two weeks.
* Competency Assessment – Assess counselors’ abilities and identify areas for development.
* Ethical Oversight – Assist counselors in navigating ethical dilemmas, particularly when working with vulnerable populations.
* Developing Reflective Practice – Encourage counselors to engage in reflective practice to improve therapeutic techniques and deepen insights into practice.
* Adhering to BACP Supervision Standards – Consistently meet BACP guidelines and uphold ethical standards.
* Providing Constructive Feedback – Offer constructive feedback on each counselor’s practice to enhance effectiveness.
* Collaboration – Work closely with the Counselling Lead, peer‑mentors, admin and support staff, and the crisis team to ensure smooth service operation and effective support.
* Opportunities for additional roles – Contribute to Safeguarding Lead, Peer‑Mentor Lead and Fundraising Lead areas.
