About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and dependable MIG Welder to join a well-established manufacturing team based in Thetford. This is a permanent position offering long-term stability, competitive pay, and opportunities to grow within a supportive production environment.
You’ll be working primarily with mild steel, producing high-quality welded assemblies to precise specifications. The ideal candidate will have solid MIG welding experience, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out MIG welding on mild steel components to produce clean, accurate, and structurally sound welds.

Read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and technical specifications.

Set up and maintain welding equipment, including voltage, wire feed, and shielding gas settings.
*
Inspect finished parts using measuring tools to ensure compliance with tolerances.
*
Perform basic fabrication tasks such as grinding, tacking, and fettling where required.
*
Adhere to all health and safety regulations and maintain a tidy, organised workspace.
*
Report equipment issues or defects to the supervisor promptly.
*
Work collaboratively as part of a small, supportive production team.
Skills and Experience Required
*
Proven experience in MIG welding, ideally within a fabrication or manufacturing setting.
*
Competent in reading and understanding engineering drawings.
*
Strong knowledge of mild steel welding techniques and best practices.
*
Confident using grinders, jigs, and measuring instruments (tape measures, verniers, etc.).
*
Welding certification desirable, but practical experience equally valued.
*
Forklift or overhead crane licence advantageous but not essential.
